Varsha is currently in her fourth year of her PhD with Amrita School of Business (2015 batch). She has a Bachelor’s in Business Management, and a Master’s in Business Administration (majoring in Finance). Her area of research is financial economics, with a specific focus on asset pricing and financial market microstructure. She has a keen interest in understanding how large macroeconomic shocks impact financial systems and financial markets. She is also interested in time series and econometric modelling of financial and economic data.She is currently exploring the financial system impacts of demonetisation in India. She hopes to better understand how financial systems evolve and respond to surprises and crisis events.
She has also attended workshops and tutorials on financial econometrics, asset pricing, and big data analytics with applications to research in accounting and finance. Being a part of ASB’s PhD program has helped her interact and collaborate with researchers from around the world, as well as obtain their valuable inputs. Her thesis committee members include Dr. Sanjay Ramchander, from Colorado State University, Dr. Harish Kumar, a visiting faculty at ASB, as well as Dr. Sangeetha Gunasekar from ASB, and Dr. P. Balasubramanian, who is her thesis supervisor.
