Bio

Prof. K. R. Sundaram currently serves as Head of Biostatistics Department, School of Medicine, Kochi. Attended 70 conferences including  10 International conferences. He has Total 50 years of experience in teaching, research & consultations. He has published 205 papers (98 in International Journals, 107 in National Journals ), 11 chapters in Books and 20 in the Proceedings of the Conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.Sc. ( Statistics) in 1966  from Govt. Victoria College, Palghat,University of Kerala
  • Ph.D ( Biostatistics) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), New Delhi Certificates from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA) in 1973

POSITIONS HELD

Worked  as Faculty in Biostatistics in medical colleges at Alleppey and Trivandrum (3 years), as Statistician in Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi (7 years), Associate / Additional and Professor and Head of the Department of Biostatistics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi ( from January,1976 to October, 2005( 30 years) and visiting faculty at College of Medicine, Sultan Qaboos University  in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman (for 5 years).

Working as Head of the Department of Biostatistics, Amrita  Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi since December, 2005.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Teaching Biostatistics, Epidemiological & Research methods for UG & PG students, consultations to the PG students in planning,analysis of data and report writing of their thesis, helping the faculty in their research projects and participating in scientific meetings,workshops & training courses as resource faculty. Running  the M.Sc course in Biostatistics  and the Chief Co-ordinator of the M.Sc course in Clinical Research at  Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences.
