Dr. P. Balasubramanian currently serves as Assistant Professor (SG) and Chairperson at the Department of Commerce and Management, School of Arts, Humanities and Commerce, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi. He is the Chairman of the Board of Studies for Commerce and member of BBA programs. As a part of research, four candidates were awarded PhDs successfully and guiding four Ph.D candidates at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in the areas like Behavioural Finance, Tourism, E-Waste Management, Startups Policy initiatives, Traditional Bamboo Artisans and buying behaviour of organic products.

Dr.P.Balasubramanian received his Ph. D. in Behavioural Finance from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He has done his Master’s in Commerce (M. Com.) from Allagappa University and Master’s in Management (MBA) from Bharathiar University. He has completed M. Phil. degree from Bharathiar University in 2008. He has 17 years of experience in teaching, 6 years in research and produced four PhDs and twelve M.Phil scholars. Presently guiding 4 research scholars.

He has given invited talks in the area of Financial Markets and Services, Currency Derivatives, Insurance Management, Personal Finance, Digital India, Contribution towards IT and ITES in Indian Economy, Impact of Digital Learning in India during Pandemic Period and Implementation of National Education Policy 2020. He has chaired sessions in national conferences at various colleges in the South India. His area of research includes Personal Finance, Behavioural Finance, Banking and Non-Banking Financial Institutions, Financial Services and General Management.

He has more than seventeen years of experience in teaching and five years of administration. His post Ph.D. teaching experience is eight years from Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He headed the Department of Commerce and Management in the Capacity of Chairperson, Amrita School of Arts, Humanities and Commerce, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Ranked 5 in India by NIRF), Kochi Campus from Jan 2018 to Jan 2021 and from March 2022 to present now. He is the Chairman for the Board of Studies in Commerce from 2019 onwards. He was also the PGP Co-Chair, primary responsibility was to administer the Ph.D. program, for Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Commerce, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi Campus. Currently, He work as an Assistant Professor (SG) at Department of Commerce and Management, Amrita School of Arts, Humanities and Commerce, Kochi Campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, focusing on teaching, administration, and research.

His teaching assignments started even before my Ph.D. Initially, He had covered topics from undergraduate courses like, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Banking and Insurance, Economics.  Later, He took courses in Advanced Managerial Decisions, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Financial Derivatives and Research Methodology. His research focuses predominantly on Behavioral Finance and General Management.

He is also a thesis examiner for the Mahatma Gandhi University, Bharathiar University, University of Kerala, and Anna University.

  • Participated in the National Conference on “Health Care Management – Frugal Innovation in Health Care” on 20th and 21st May 2016, at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi.
  • Presented a Paper on 12th and 13th August 2016 – “IPO’s performance – Pre and Post era with reference to Cochin Stock exchange at the International Conference on Financial Markets and Corporate Finance held at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Tamil Nādu.
  • Chaired the technical session for the International Conference on Breaking New Ground towards Digital Era in Commerce at Hindustan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore on 21st September 2016.
  • Participated in the Awareness Conference on Responsible Business Practices at Raddison Blu, Kochi on 23rd September 2016 organized jointly by Amrita University, Confederation of Indian Industry and ASSIST.
