Bio

Dr. Sreedha Sambhudevan, currently serves as Chairperson of the department of Chemistry, Amrita School of Physical Sciences, Amritapuri. She did her PhD in polymer chemistry from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. She has more than 8 years of research experience in nano-filled polymers composites. Dr. Sreedha joined the department of Chemistry in Amrita in 2002.

Her research interests include Polymer micro and nano composites, rubber nanocomposites, green composites, green synthesis of nanomaterials, conducting polymer composites, geopolymers, development of flexible magnets, EMI shielding materials.

She has several international publications, book chapters and many international and national conference publications to her credit.

Research

In the new era of green and sustainable materials, our research team focus on development of new materials for societal needs by combining local resources and expertise, to provide solutions to complex technical challenges in material design, enhancement, utilization, and identification. The research portfolio spreads across the fields of Shielding materials, nanomaterials, Nanocomposites, Magnetic materials, Polymers (Organic Synthesis & Bio). The main area of our research is development of suitable polymer nano composites, an important category of materials that demonstrate distinct physicochemical properties that are inaccessible with individual components acting alone. These nanocomposites have recently attracted intensive research interest owing to their promising potential for a broad assortment of applications in environmental remediation and in solving various environmental problems

  • Delivered an invited lecture in the National seminar on Advances in polymer technology held at government college, Attingal on November 28, 2013.
  •  Delivered an invited lecture in association with student induction program held at government college Nattakam, Kottayam on July 2015, organized by Department of Chemistry, along with “Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), ” Central University of Kerala,.
  •  Delivered an invited talk on National Level Online Workshop on Virtual Chemistry learning for Higher Education on 18th & 19th January 2021.
  • Delivered an invited talk in Department of Chemical Engineering, TKM College of Engineering, Kollam as part of faculty development programme on January 2023.
