Bio

Dr.T.Senthil Kumar serves as a Professor at Amrita School of Computing, Coimbatore. He completed his B. Tech. (Computer Science and Engineering) from Sethu Institute of Technology, Madurai. He completed his M.Tech.(Distributed Computing Systems) from Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry. He completed his PhD in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai. His research interests include Video Analytics, Big Data Analytics, Intrusion Detection Systems, User Behavioral Analytics, AI Framework for Web Phishing and Interpretable Image classification. He has received appreciation in Indian Express for agent-based programming for Banking Domain. He has published in nine National Conferences, 12 International Conferences, 14 International Journals and ten Edited Book volumes. He has 58 Scopus publications. He has publications in SCI journals. He has published a Book on C++. He teaches courses related to Image processing. Computer Networks, Video Processing and Research Methodology. He is guiding scholars with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in areas related to Early human Fall Detection, Vehicle Traffic Density Analysis, User Behavioral Analysis, Fire Detection and Glaucoma Analysis. He leads the Thrust Area Group on Secure Camera Network Analytics(SCNA) at Department of CSE. There are two PhD scholars graduated under his research supervision.

He is a reviewer for Elsevier Computers & Electrical Engineering Journal, soft computing. He is working at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore since 2001. He has developed skills in the competency areas of programming like MATLAB, NS2, JIST, C#, Android, Hadoop, Spark, OpenCV with Qt and Keras with Tensor Flow.

ANSAN – Amrita’s AI based Nethra Sanrakshan System

Eyes are crucial sensory organs that provide vision. Regular eye exams are needed to retain vision. If undiagnosed, glaucoma damages the optic nerve, causing impaired vision and blindness. AI helps produce low-cost, scalable healthcare technology. ANSAN utilizes computer vision and deep learning to check for glaucoma. Stakeholders use a handheld fundus camera to send the patient’s eye image to the model that identifies glaucoma and screens severity. The detection algorithm uses deep learning to assess retinal fundus images, predict glaucoma, and propose the nearest Primary Health Center.

It is a unique fusion of yoga pose detection and a recommendation system model, providing users with a comprehensive all-in-one feature within the application. By integrating the concept of recommendation alongside yoga pose detection, users can enhance their comfort and proficiency with yoga or slogans. The system has been tested with students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, demonstrating its efficacy in improving the learning experience. This innovative approach holds promise for extension to a broader student base, fostering enhanced learning and engagement across various demographics.

AAIRAA -Amrita’s AI-based Recognition and Analytical Application

Real-time face detection is popular for security surveillance and attendance management in numerous sectors. We employ advanced algorithms to detect faces in real-time video feeds and extract facial landmarks and expressions. These features identify and authenticate people for access control and attendance tracking. Name, ID, Date, Time In, and Time Out are entered into an Excel sheet. The facial detection module photographs personnel entering the building. It extracts face traits from photos and compares them to a firebase database of registered employees. Administrators register personnel and have full access to their data. Face capture records employee data, timestamp, and date if a match is discovered. The Excel sheet calculates staff hours automatically. charting pivot tables. This aids attendance data analysis, including arrival, departure, and absenteeism. This unique application helps the company control staff attendance. The product is being tested as part of research labs at Amrita School of computing, Coimbatore.

Amrita Sync – Anaemia Detection System

The World Health Organization considers anemia a health danger impacting 25% of the global population, requiring automated, fast, and accurate detection. A mobile phone application was created to accurately classify eye and fingernail photos as anemic or non-anemic with up to 91% accuracy. Prepossessing pipeline accurately localizes and extracts eye and fingernail regions from input images.

Drones with state-of-the-art imaging technology is used to fight Pokkah Boeng disease in sugarcane fields. The drones quickly identify initial indicators, allowing for precise actions to limit its transmission. This method efficiently allocates resources to minimize crop losses and promote sustainable farming. Farmers use drones to protect their crops from potential agricultural dangers, enhancing their resilience.

Metadata Tool

In the Indian Universities, data science courses are offered to computer science undergraduates only in their higher semesters of under-graduation. Keeping in mind, the growing importance of data science, under-graduates need to be introduced to data science courses in their first year of under-graduation itself. As an outcome, a software named MetaData is developed that abstracts all levels of implementation and helps students and industry users better understand the fundamental concepts in data science by observing the applicability of these concepts on real world datasets. The tool is a web based solution that will provide one stop solution for loading data, model selection, Model evaluation with data interpretation features.

ASAIVU(Amrita Security Alert Indicator for Violence Undertaking)

In today’s environment monitoring of activities of students in school and college is of high need. Though there are systems in practice they do not provide real time early detection of anomalies that can be considered as class that might lead to violence. The aim of this product is to integrate with Network cameras at real time and monitor for activities related to events that can be classified as violence in school and college environment.
