Abstract : Demand Side Management (DSM) is a vital function of smart grid to manage energy. The DSM can attain reduction in energy utilization, energy usage efficiency enrichment and cost saving via information technologies and developed optimal methods. The demand side management strategy for residential users in a smart micro-grid is proposed. The proposed Demand Side Management system for demand response applications which can anticipatorily and efficiently control and manage the operation of various appliances to keep the total power consumption below a specified power limit. To do so loads are managed according to their priority. In proposed system, the graphical user interface (GUI) view will be used to monitor and control appliances status, power consumption and to calculate the instantaneous cost. Hardware results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed DSM algorithm.
