Introduction to Fashion Photography: Historical overview, Influential fashion photographers, Understanding fashion trends. Visual Aesthetics in Fashion: Composition rules, Styling and posing, Color psychology. Technical Essentials: Camera settings for fashion, Lens selection, Lighting fundamentals.
Unit II
Fashion Lighting Techniques
Natural Light vs. Studio Lighting: Outdoor fashion shoots, Studio equipment – setups (softboxes, reflectors, etc.) Creative Lighting Styles: High-key and low-key lighting, Rembrandt lighting, Backlighting for fashion.
Unit III
Fashion Styling and Art Direction
Fashion Styling: Wardrobe selection, Accessories and props, Makeup, and hair. Model Direction and Posing: Communicating with models, Posing techniques, Expressions, and body language.
Unit IV
Post-Processing and Retouching
Editing Workflow: Raw processing, Color correction, Skin retouching, Creating Mood, and Style: Adding filters and effects, Enhancing visual storytelling.
Unit V
Portfolio Development and Industry Insights
Building a Fashion Portfolio: Curating a cohesive collection, Online platforms, and physical portfolios. Industry Trends and Professional Practices: Fashion photography market, Collaborating with designers, models, and agencies.
Objectives and Outcomes
Course Objective:
The primary objective of the Fashion Photography course is to equip students with advanced skills and knowledge necessary for capturing compelling fashion images. Students will explore the intersection of fashion, aesthetics, and visual storytelling through photography. By the end of the course, they should be proficient in creating high-quality fashion photographs suitable for editorial spreads, advertising campaigns, and portfolios.
