Abstract : This study reports the fabrication of a new voltammetric sensor for the quantification of gallic acid (GA) in green tea samples. A pencil graphite electrode (PGE) modified with MnO2 (MnO2-PGE) was utilized for the electrochemical assay of GA. The developed electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive X-Ray analysis (EDAX), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The sensor showed a wide linear range of 20 M 500 M. Scan rate studies showed that the electro oxidation process of GA on MnO2-PGE is diffusion controlled in nature. The MnO2 modified PGE was analytically used to detect the GA content in green tea samples.
