Abstract : The effect of patch loading on Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) fed monopole antenna is analyzed in this paper. For gain enhancement, different geometrically shaped patches are loaded on the monopole antenna. The pentagonal shaped patch is found to offer better gain in comparison with other geometries studied. The gain enhancement is obtained without deteriorating other antenna characteristics.
