Kinematic Analysis and Design Verification of a 6-axis Machine Tending Robot under Development by MTAB, Chennai

The project was primarily aimed at assisting the engineers and management at MTAB to design and verifiy the kinematic and structural analysis of the robots that were under development. The MTAB designers took few inputs from the Project Investigator with regard to the Structural Architecture of the robot, such that the forward and inverse kinematics analysis becomes easier, like in any standard wrist-partitioned robot. Thereafter the analyses on the 6-kg and 10-kg payload robots were carried out. The design inputs by the Project Investigator were used wherever applicable and the physical robots were manufactured by MTAB. AMTDC (at IIT Madras) then carried out several tests on the reliability and repeatability of the robots developed and MTAB and the tests reports were satisfactory and were used towards a successful Made in India robot.

Sponsored by MTAB Engineers Pvt Ltd, Chennai

Funding: Rs. 3.245 Lakhs.
