Department of Mass Communication, School of Arts, Humanities, and Commerce at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, had the distinct pleasure of welcoming back the alumni of its first-ever batch. The reunion brought together 11 of the 13 graduates from the 2004–05 Diploma in Journalism course, marking a remarkable 20 years since their graduation.

The alumni were warmly welcomed by Dr. Kalyani Suresh, Head of the Department & Vice-Principal of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Commerce, along with Mr. Binoy V.S., Alumni Coordinator and Assistant Studio Manager, and Ms. Aswathi K.B., Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication. The gathering was guided by Ms. Arsha Nikhil Kothurkar, a first-year M.A. Communication student, who led the alumni on a nostalgic tour of the department and campus.
During the visit, the alumni shared emotional recollections of their student days. Ms. Radha Menon expressed her delight in revisiting the institution after two decades, while Mr. Sajesh Mohan reflected on the lasting connection between their memories and the present students. He noted how the experience felt particularly meaningful, enhanced by the warm welcome from the faculty. Dr. B. S. Shiju also expressed his gratitude, crediting the department with shaping his career and providing a strong foundation for his professional journey.
A highlight of the reunion was a visit to the department’s studio, where alumni relived cherished moments, exchanged stories of their professional paths, and discussed how the department had influenced their careers. The day concluded with a campus tour, leaving the alumni with a profound sense of nostalgia and renewed connections with their alma mater.
