Amrita Faculty Secure INR 21 Lakhs Grant to Develop ‘Priyamvada’ Sanskrit Audiobook App

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is pleased to announce that Dr. Harikrishnan V. P., Assistant Professor (Sr.Gr.), and Dr. Midhun P., Assistant Professor, Amrita School of Spiritual and Cultural Studies, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, Kerala, India, were awarded INR 2100000 by Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, to create an exclusive Sanskrit Audiobook App containing 40 Sanskrit books. The project is titled Priyamvada.

Project Overview and Key Objectives

Priyamvada (प्रियंवदा) is the Sanskrit Audiobook project proposed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, to the Ashtadsi scheme in 2023. Central Sanskrit University approved the proposal in 2023. This educational and culturally significant project will contribute to Sanskrit learning and teaching. It will be funded from March 2023 to March 2026.

Envisioned Outcomes

The books will be available in the chapter-wise format on the App. The recording and mastering of the first ten of the 40 books have been completed, and the project’s official launch will be soon. Three additional books are under development.

The app is being tested and checked for bugs and will be available on the Play Store and the App Store. Priyamvada is the world’s first Audiobook App exclusively developed for Sanskrit Sastras. The entire content of the App will be freely available for the public.
