Abstract : The present work involves the incorporation of beta-cyclodextrin capped zinc sulfide nanoparticles (ZnS@β-CD NPs) into a polymer matrix of polyvinyl alcohol and chitosan blend (PVA/CS/ZnS@β-CD) via electrospinning technique. The surface morphology and elemental composition of the PVA/CS/ZnS@β-CD nanofiber have been analysed using FE-SEM equipped with EDX, which reveal the nanofiber to be smooth and uniform without any beads having an average diameter around 100 nm. XRD and FT-IR analyses of the PVA/CS/ZnS@β-CD scaffold indicate the successful incorporation of ZnS@β-CD NPs into the PVA/CS blend. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of the PVA/CS/ZnS@β-CD nanofibers are investigated. The in vitro wound scratch analysis of ZnS@β-CD NPs reveals the promotion of cell migration of NIH3T3 cells and utmost wound closing occurs at 24 h. Further, ZnS@β-CD NPs indicate the cytotoxicity against MCF-7 cancer cells. MTT assay and antioxidant activity of ZnS@β-CD also revealed that NPs incorporated PVA/CS blend to be best suited for wound healing application.
