Abstract : Single crystals of K2[Cu(NH3)2(CrO4)2] (PCDCU) and copper(II) doped K2[Cd(NH3)2(CrO4)2] (PCDC) have been prepared. K2[Cu(NH3)2(CrO4)2] crystallizes in triclinic modification with P1 symmetry, with one formula unit per unit cell. The units are linked to form a polymeric anionic chain, extending along the a axis. The temperature dependence of the EPR spectra of polycrystalline sample of Cu(II) doped K2[Cd(NH3)2(CrO4)2] has been studied. The fluxional behaviour of the system is interpreted based on the Boltzmann population of the unpaired electron in the three potential valleys. Though K2[Cu(NH3)2(CrO4)2] contains only one CuN2O4 octahedron per unit cell, one more signal with low intensity has been observed in the single crystal EPR spectrum.
