Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam is an experienced neurosurgeon passionate about neuro-oncology and movement disorder surgery with minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Balasubramaniam is well-versed in the latest technology innovations in neurosurgery and is keenly involved in benefiting patients with all the recent advances in neurosurgery to make surgery/treatment the most effective and safe for patients.
He has been an adaptor of Deep Brain Stimulation surgery for Parkinson’s Disease since the late 1990s. He has been driving navigation and intra op Imaging Technology (Intra Op MRI), with Intra Op Monitoring for safe and effective resection of Gliomas and Pituitary tumors for the last 15 years and pioneered the use of endoscopic neurosurgery from NIMHANS since 1997 for use in various areas like hydrocephalus, endonasal surgeries for pituitary tumors and intraventricular tumors like colloid cysts.
Dr. Balasubramaniam is well-trained and a keen participant in stereotactic treatment modalities like stereotactic radiosurgery (including Gamma knife), Linac-based delivery for tumors, and SEEG placements for epilepsy surgery. He is passionate about developing good neurosurgical centers with all facilities for advanced treatment and training students and junior colleagues to achieve proficiency in neurosurgery. He is involved in clinical and basic science research, especially neuro-oncology, with over 54 publications and chapters in national and international journals and books.
