Abstract : These days, negligent driving is causing an increase in the number of accidents. A low-cost adaptive cruise control (ACC) system for on-road vehicles has been proposed to improve driver’s safety and comfort-ness. Concerning the vehicle's relative distance from its surroundings, its velocity, the driver's actions, throttle acceleration, etc., in-car cruise control systems limit speed. This paper investigates the design and implementation of various controllers used in ACC and provides a comparative performance of three control strategies for cruise control vehicles. proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller, fuzzy logic controller (FLC), and fuzzy-PID (F-PID) controller have been studied and expressed the results on MATLAB / Simulink®-2023b environment. Simulation results demonstrate that the Fuzzy-PID controller provides satisfactory performance in standard conditions, and the FLC and PID controllers exhibit superior adaptability and robustness, particularly in complex and dynamic environments.
