Abstract : This paper focuses on the design and simulation of a photo conductive terahertz antenna operating at 2 terahertz (THz). The antenna employs a rectangular patch-based design, with Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) chosen as the substrate material and Silver (Ag) utilized for the patch/strip. Terahertz antennas are critical components in various applications, including spectroscopy, imaging, and communications, owing to their ability to manipulate electromagnetic waves in the terahertz frequency range. The proposed antenna design offers broadband operation and high efficiency at 2.067 THz frequency with gain and directivity as – 5.427 dBi and 2.202 dBi respectively, facilitating advancements in terahertz technology for cancer detection, biomedical imaging, spectroscopy and beyond.
