Non-Invasive Microwave Sensing

Dept/Center/Lab: Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering

School: School of Engineering

Funded by:MeiTY

Research Goals and Outputs

  • Fundamental studies into electromagnetic interaction with layered media, with applications ranging from non-invasive-testing of liquids, materials to modeling of walls in through the wall imaging and ground penetrating Radars.
  • Developed experimental prototype for liquid medium with potential application of non-

invasive monitoring of contamination in water bodies such as Lakes and Rivers.

  • Developed experimental prototype of Bone Mineral Density Analysis System for rural healthcare.
  • Developed special OECW (open-ended-circular-waveguide) based sensors for liquid materials
  • Systems Design through engineering skills in software Defined Radio, Embedded Systems Programming, RF sensor design, Machine Learning and Inverse Modeling.

As part of this research, we have developed sensors for water-quality, ion-concentration in liquids and bone-mineral density.
