Internal Quality Assurance Cell
(IQAC)

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Coimbatore campus-level Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) aims to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of all the schools and centres in the Coimbatore campus, which is also the headquarters of the university. It works towards promoting measures for institutional functioning towards quality sustenance and enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices. IQAC is the internal mechanism for planning, and monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of various schools in the AMRITA Coimbatore campus.

The IQAC for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus comprises of members from the Schools of Engineering; Business; Computing; Artificial Intelligence; Physical Sciences; Agricultural Sciences; Arts, Humanities & Commerce; Architecture and Social & Behavioral Sciences as well as campus administration. This campus-level IQAC is responsible for NBA & NAAC accreditation and NIRF & various rankings as also its statutory submissions & compliances as well as activities & initiatives towards improvement of institutional quality at the campus-level.

This campus-level IQAC supports the university-level IQAC as well as the Amrita Center for Accreditations, Rankings, and Eminence (CARE) towards rankings and accreditations at the university level.

Functions

  • Data & evidence collection, collation, curation, consolidation, submission, and archival for accreditation and rankings such as Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of NAAC; and NBA self-assessment report (SAR) of NBA  
  • Conceptualizes feedback mechanisms and intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and escalating these to the university administration for implementation  
  • Organization of workshops, seminars, conferences, and events on quality-related themes  
  • Showcasing of the university & campus best practices in international and national fora 
  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for the various academic and administrative activities  
  • Margdarshan & mentoring of universities and autonomous higher educational institutions by knowledge exchange; conducting Academic & Administrative Audit (AAA); participation in various academic, research, and administrative committees such as Academic Council, IQAC, Board of Studies, and academic advisory committees; and hosting delegations who visit the campus to study the university’s best practices.  

Accreditations & Rankings

  • Based on the evaluation of all the campuses and programs by a peer review committee in 2021, the University has been re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A++’ grade with a CGPA of 3.7 for all its campuses and programs in the 3rd cycle.  
  • Amrita is ranked as the 7th best university in India in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking of Ministry of Education, Government of India published in 2024. Amrita has been ranked one of the top private universities in India consistently for the last 7 years in the NIRF rankings 
  • Amrita is ranked 23rd in Engineering and 28th in Management in the NIRF 2024 rankings 
  • All eligible 7 UG engineering and computing programs of AMRITA Coimbatore campus have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).  
  • The MBA program is one of the few programs in India secure international accreditation by AACSB  
  • The Ministry of Education has ranked the campus as the greenest and cleanest university campus in India in the Swachh Campus rankings in 2017 and 2018.  
  • The campus was conferred Green Champion award in 2021 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
