The Amrita School of Dentistry in association with Indian Prosthodontic Society, Kerala State Branch hosted a three-day workshop on Maxillofacial Prosthodontics as part of the MaxFac 2024. The event, inaugurated by Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director of Amrita Hospitals, was designed to provide in-depth knowledge on the latest techniques in the reconstruction of facial structures affected by cancer, highlighting the school’s two decades of excellence in this specialized field.
The participants had the opportunity to engage in “VISIONSCULPT,” a hands-on session that focused on the delicate art of fabricating ocular prostheses. And hands-on session on “Deflasking, Extrinsic Staining, and Finishing of Silicone Orbital Prostheses.” By the end of the workshop, participants were equipped with advanced skills to improve the quality of life for patients requiring these intricate procedures. The event witnessed active participation from dental surgeons across the country.
The workshop featured distinguished speakers from both Amrita School of Dentistry and renowned institutions across India. Esteemed faculty members included Dr. K. Narayanan Unni, Chairman of the Amrita School of Dentistry; Dr. Balagopal Varma, Principal; Dr. S. Rakesh, Vice Principal; and Dr. Manju Vijayamohan, Head of the Prosthodontics Department. They were joined by notable external experts such as Dr. Satyabodh S. Guttal from SDM College of Dentistry, Dharwad, and Dr. Sandeep Gurav from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
Other key speakers included Dr. P.C. Jacob, Dr. Arjun Krishnadas, Dr. Pramod Subhash, and Dr. Vinod P. Nair from Amrita Hospital, Kochi, Dr. P.L. Roopesh, President of the Kerala Chapter of the Indian Prosthodontic Society, and Dr. Subramania Iyer, Chairman of the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi.
