Abstract : Herbal remedies are known for their widespread availability and lower toxicity compared to modern medicines, Medicinal plants have been historically utilized in the treatment of various illness, with cancer emerging as a significant global cause of mortality. In spite of the numerous treatment methods, the high incidence rate, diagnostic challenges, and adverse effects associated with existing treatments present formidable obstacles in effectively addressing this disease. Given the complexity of combating cancer, there is a pressing need for innovative strategies in its treatment. Natural products, especially those derived from medicinal plants, play a pivotal role in the battle against cancer cells. These plants contain a rich array of bioactive compounds with proven anticancer properties. This review concentrates on exploring lesser-known ethnobotanicals found in the Indian subcontinent and adjoining regions of Southeast Asia, which show promising potential in the fight against cancer. By offering an overview of the active phytochemicals present in these plants and elucidating their mechanisms of action within cancer cells, this review aims to provide valuable insights. This information serves as a foundation for further studies, facilitating the exploration of additional plant-based products with therapeutic potential in the treatment of cancer.
