Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has partnered with MathWorks to elevate the teaching and experimentation of IoT application development by integrating Model-Based Design using MATLAB and ThingSpeak. The collaboration was inaugurated on August 21, 2024, at Saraswathy Hall, ABII, with an event that brought together faculty, research scholars, and students involved in IoT research.
The initiative is structured at multiple levels to enhance IoT education systematically. The first level will be marked by the launch of the Amrita-MathWorks collaboration on August 21, 2024. This will be followed by a Tech Talk, delivered by Mr. Ramana Reddy A V, Senior Engineer from MathWorks Hyderabad, to raise awareness of MathWorks solutions for IoT. The third level will include a Faculty Development Programme scheduled for September 2, 2024, to equip educators with the skills needed to integrate these tools into their teaching. The fourth level will involve a hands-on workshop for students, which will be scheduled soon, offering practical experience in IoT application development. Finally, the fifth level will see the integration of MathWorks solutions into Amrita’s course delivery starting from the 2024-2025 odd semester, embedding these advanced tools into the curriculum.
Dr. S. Balamurugan, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), welcomed the gathering and set the context for the collaboration. Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean of the School of Engineering, presided over the event, highlighting the growing importance of IoT in engineering and the need for students and researchers to focus on problem-solving using IoT technologies. Dr. R. Jayabarathi, Vice Chairperson of EEE, expressed gratitude to the experts and participants for their contributions to the successful launch of the initiative.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards integrating advanced technological tools in IoT education at Amrita, fostering innovation and practical skills among students and researchers.
