Abstract : This study aims to find the effect of the direct aging and T6 heat treatment on AlSi10Mg alloy fabricated by powder bed fusion-laser melting (PBF-LM) process. The effect of pre- and post-heat treatment on the mechanical, metallurgical and corrosion properties were examined. The conventional T6 heat treatment is performed on the cast alloy to improve its mechanical properties. The effect of T6 heat treatment on the AlSi10Mg alloy fabricated using PBF-LM process will have a different effect. In direct aging heat treatment, the solution heat treatment stage of the T6 heat treatment is neglected, and the as-built alloy is directly subjected to artificial aging. This is due to the rapid melting and cooling of the additive manufacturing process; the as-built alloy is in the supersaturated solid solution condition. The microstructure, hardness, and corrosion tests were performed on the as-built, T6 and direct ageing (DA) alloy. It is observed that as-built samples possess high hardness followed by DA and T6. Moreover, wear tests were performed on the as-built and the T6 samples. Corrosion tests revealed that T6 samples demonstrates has low mass loss followed by DA and as-built alloy.
