On June 6, 2024, Dr. P.M. Nair led a compelling workshop titled “Human Trafficking: A Call for Action” at our Amritapuri Campus. Organized by the Centre of Cybersecurity Systems and Networks, this impactful event was attended by a diverse group, including MSW students, engineering students specializing in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, PhD scholars, and faculty members.
Dr. P.M. Nair is a distinguished figure whose illustrious career in the Indian Police Service spans over four decades. With a rich academic background that includes an MA in Sociology, an LLB, and a PhD in Victimology, Dr. Nair’s journey in law enforcement has been nothing short of extraordinary. His career has seen him serve in various high-profile capacities across Bihar, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), among others. Dr. Nair’s expertise is highly sought after at the highest levels of governance.
The workshop addressed ground-level issues being faced across India and emphasized why today’s youth must act to protect their peers and family members. The session was conducted as a hybrid event, with participation from nearly all of our campuses, ensuring a broad and engaged audience.
This event not only heightened awareness of the urgent need to combat human trafficking but also empowered attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to make a difference.
