National Science Day is celebrated each year in India on 28th February. t is celebrated in honour of the discover of ‘The Raman Effect’ by Dr. C.V. Raman on 28th February 1928. The purpose behind celebrating National Science Day is to spread the message about the importance of science and technology in everyday life to the people. This year, the theme was “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”. The School of Physical Sciences, Amrita Puri Campus organized a two-day program to celebrate Science Day 2023 under the title ZENITH’23 on 28-02-2023 and 01-03-2023. Dr. K. N. Ninan, the former outstanding scientist, at VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, and Emeritus Professor, Indian Institute of Space, was the chief guest of the program and he delivered a talk on “India’s Incredible Space Accomplishment” on 28-2-2023. The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr. Geetha Kumar, Dr. Jyothi S N, and Dr. Narayanan Kutty Karuppath, followed by prayer by Integrated MSc students. Ms. Santhy, Assistant professor, Department of chemistry formally welcomed all the participants gathered for the celebration. Dr. Geetha Kumar, Dr. Jyothi S N, Dr. Narayanan Kutty Karuppath, Dr. Usha Kumari P V, Chairperson, Department of mathematics, Dr. Ganesh Sundaram, Chairperson, Department of Physics, Dr. Sreedha Sambhudevan, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry had addressed the gathering with their stimulating thoughts on Science &Technology. Dr. K N Ninan gave a thought-provoking speech on the incredible space accomplishments done by his team and inspired the audience for doing scientific research for the sake of humanity.
