Abstract : To increase the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), there is a need for extensive infrastructure. At present, the EV charging infrastructure is at its nascent stage. It is advantageous to make use of the existing 240 V AC supply for EV charging. An EV having an integrated battery charger can utilize this supply. The integrated battery chargers are classified based on the motor used, their features, and construction. This paper reviews the topologies of single-phase integrated chargers proposed for various electric vehicle motors. This paper provides a basic understanding of the need for integrated chargers, the recent developments and provides a base for additional studies.
