The Department of English, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, organized a seminar to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita entitled the visionary -Sister Nivedita- A multifaceted genius par excellence, at the CIR Seminar Hall on October 12, 2017.
Ms. Leena D’ Mohan Secretary Sakthi Kerala, welcomed the gathering. Shri. R.Hari, scholar and former Rashtriya Boudhik Pramukh inaugurated the function on a formal note. Dr. U. Krishnakumar delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. A. K. Prema created a general awareness on Shakthi Keralam. The formal inauguration was followed by two sessions. Shri.Hari, the Chief Speaker provided an insight into the life and works of Sister Nivedita, inspiring the listeners to view her as a role model. Dr. Jyotsna G., Assistant Professor, Department of Vyakarana, Govt.Sanskrit College,Tripunithura, spoke on the topic Sister Nivedita’s Relevance today with focus on Women’s role in Nation Building.The last session was conducted by Dr.Lakshmikutty. N. Professor (Retd) and Former Head Department of History U.C.College, Aluva . Her topic was on the Contribution of Sister Nivedita in making Modern India. The session was followed by a PPT presentation and a Visual Documentary.The programme concluded with an interactive session and a quiz by Rajalakshmi Kanjilal, Ph.D Scholar.
