The Graduation ceremony of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, was held on September 11, 2017, at the School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi campus. The day will always remain a red-letter day in the annals of the School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi. On this day, the first ever graduation ceremony was held in the college auditorium.
The auspicious day began with the ceremonial procession comprising the senior officials from the University, Dignitaries, members of the Faculty and student representatives, along with Swamiji. The solemn function commenced with the Invocation to Chancellor Amma and lighting of the Lamp. Dr. U. Krishnakumar welcomed the gathering. Swami Purnamritananda Puri blessed the graduands conveying Amma’s message of the need for Grace from Guru to acquire success in life.
The Graduation Day address was delivered by the chief guest Sri. G. Muraleedharan, Principal General Manager, BSNL. Honoured guests Dr. N. Unnikrishnan Nair, Former Vice-Chancellor, CUSAT, Dr. R. Dandapani, Controller of Examinations, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Dr. P. Prathapan Nair, Chairman, Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi, Dr. K. P. S. Nair, Director, FACT Ltd, & Consultant to KITCO, Dr. Raghu Raman, Chairman, School of Business, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, were present. They addressed the graduands, expressing the need to be aware of the responsibility that they have towards the society that they belong to after they leave their Alma mater. The award of degree certificates began after PoojaneeyaSwamiji administered the Oath. The Provisional Degree of Doctor of Philosophy was awarded to Dr. Sreeja Ashok, the first Doctorate of the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, from this campus. Dr. Sreeja completed her work under the guidance of Dr. U. Krishnakumar. This was followed by the award of medals and Rank Certificates and Degree Certificates to the graduates. More than 400 students (M.Phil., PG and UG) received their certificates. The Guests of Honor were presented with Mementos. The function concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sony Vijayan, PGP Chair and Dy. Controller of Examinations, followed by the Shanti mantra and the National Anthem. Saplings, grown by the Organic farming group of the Amrita Values Program, were distributed to the graduates as they left the venue, to symbolize their commitment to the environment and the society.
