Seven students from the Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi, were awarded prizes in the “All India Essay Writing Event 2018” (College – UG / PG category) organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan & Heartfulness Education Trust. Nearly two lakh students from more than 15,000 institutes participated.
The topic for the essay for the UG/PG category this year was “A mind all logic is like a knife all blade. It makes the hand bleed that uses it.”, which is a famous quote of Rabindranath Tagore. These thoughtfully chosen essay topics provided an opportunity for students to think deeply about life and its meaning. The students were encouraged to participate and they have highlighted that they value this experience immensely as it allows them to introspect, broaden their thinking and are motivated to read and do research on the topic. They have provided positive feedback on the experience as it empowers critical thinking and thinking outside of the box enabling self-development and inner change.
Students from various schools in Kochi campus of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences participate actively every year in this annual essay writing event and have received prizes every year. The organizers have specially commended the high standards and enthusiastic participation of our students in the previous years and highlighted the exceptional essay writing skill of our former students.
