In a remarkable stride towards global cybersecurity excellence, the students of Team bi0s, a Cybersecurity and Research group from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri representing India placed 1st and won a cash prize of ₩3,000,000 in the International Digital Forensics Challenge 2023, an International Cyber Security competition hosted by Korea Institute of Information Security and technology in Seoul, South Korea.
Four of our students Nithin Chenthur Prabhu and Sabhya Raj Mehta from 3rd year CSE and Yadhu Krishna K and Johith Lal from 2nd year CSE AIE participated in this five-month-long competition among 1200 teams which included people representing many multinational companies and institutions. Team bi0s was invited to attend the winning ceremony held at Militopia Hotel, Seongnam, Seoul, South Korea.
The Korea Institute of Information Security and Cryptology (KIISC) is a nonprofit organisation that supports the development of information security and cryptology and is based in Seoul, Korea. It facilitates networking and communication among industry professionals as well as the sector’s advancement.
The main objective of this global contest sought to boost and elevate proficiency in digital forensics and cybersecurity among entrants from diverse nations where they had to encounter a range of real-life simulations challenging their skills in collecting digital proof, recognizing weaknesses, and creating plans to counter cyber risks. This competition was conducted from May 1 to October 7, 2023.
The Team presented a session for all the attendees on how they approached different real-time cyber scenarios presented in the Digital Forensics, Incident Response, and Malware Analysis field during the professional competition. This helped to emphasise as well as showcase the abilities and skill-set of our students on a global level.
The Team sincerely thanks the faculties and staff of the Department of Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity for their constant guidance and support this past year. Team bi0s is grateful to the University administration and staff for their enduring encouragement and also wish to acknowledge our accomplished alumni at leading technology companies worldwide for inspiring us through their groundbreaking work and mentoring. This win adds to the number of victories by Team bi0s. We hope to have more advancement in the field of cybersecurity education and exhibit the remarkable talent and dedication of the students of Amrita University.
