On Thursday, 10th January, 2019, The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham organised its second workshop on the topic ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)’. It was an informative event for faculty members and student innovators, researchers pursuing Ph. D.and M. Tech. courses and budding entrepreneurs interested in developing products and patents.
The first session was conducted by Dr. V. Shankar, Vice President, India Patent Prep & Prosecution, MaxVal IP Services. Dr. Shankar, a registered Indian Patent Agent, holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Madras and a Masters in Materials Science and Engineering from Oregon Graduate Institute, USA. He currently manages a team of patent agents and analysts providing various IP related services including drafting, filing, prosecution, strategy and consultation. Dr. V. Shankar was supported by Dr. Ganesh Venkatraman, Manager, Patent Prep & Prosecution in the same firm.
This was followed by the second session, in which the address of Ms. Shwetasree Mujumdar, Principal, Fidus Law Chamber was live-streamed through YouTube. The event was coordinated by Dr. S. Balamurugan, President, IIC and Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering, Coimbatore and R. Krishnan, Convener, IIC and Head, ACE, CIR.
