On 7th October, 2016, a talk on IoT was conducted by Dr. Veena M. N., Associate Professor, PES College of Engineering, Mandya. During the session, she had observed the IoT (Internet of Things) to be the physical world itself which had become a type of information system.
Dr. Veena also commented that sensors and actuators embedded in physical objects, from roadways to pacemakers, are linked through wired and wireless networks, often using the same Internet Protocol (IP) that connects the Internet. While discussing statistics, she mentioned that there are more than 12 billion devices that are currently connected to the Internet, and researchers at IDC estimate that number to 26 times more by the year 2020.
Dr. Veena had also provided a broad description of Wi-Fi IoT development board, sensors, actuators and the Cloud Platform required to build IoT products and services.
