Vulnerability Mapping / AWESOME Framework

The Development Studies TAG, a crucial component of the Amrita UNESCO Chair, is dedicated to tackling the multifaceted sustainability challenges prevalent in social, economic, and environmental domains. Our primary objective is to excel in various aspects of sustainable development, particularly focusing on gender equality, empowerment, skill development, and vocational education. Our research track is marked by its innovative approach to fostering sustainable development in the diverse and vibrant communities of India. We bring together an array of academic disciplines, including environmental science, economics, sociology, technology, and policy studies, to craft comprehensive and effective solutions. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to better understand the complex interplay of factors that influence sustainable development. One of the key strengths of our work lies in the application of adaptable, participatory methods. By engaging with local communities, stakeholders, and policymakers, we aim to co-create sustainable solutions that resonate with the specific needs and aspirations of the people we serve. This collaborative approach not only enhances the relevance and effectiveness of our strategies but also promotes a sense of ownership and inclusivity among those affected by our initiatives. In summary, the Development Studies TAG, operating within the framework of the Amrita UNESCO Chair, is committed to advancing sustainable development in India and beyond. By combining diverse disciplines, innovative approaches, and inclusive methods, we strive to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the pursuit of a more sustainable and equitable world.
