Description

The emerging trend in empirical research is to utilize the field level data to validate, and alternatively to challenge the conventional wisdom. 2019 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences awarded to Professors Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer for their novel experimental approach to research tackling global poverty confirms the growing recognition of this line of thinking. This program by the Amrita Center for Economics & Governance, is designed as a workshop to help young scholars and professionals develop research capability by acquiring analytical skills in econometric techniques and applications to deal with survey data. It will also develop technical competence about the gathering of data in a variety of forms and the presentation and processing of those data with a view to supporting some key hypotheses and stylized facts. The coverage of the workshop is spread over mainstream economic theories and quantitative and qualitative research practice.
