Abstract : Since some intelligent systems are required to prevent road accidents, the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is gaining popularity these days, where vehicles will be able to communicate with one another, pedestrians, and road signs. Apart from the numerous opportunities presented by IoV, some challenges and issues must be carefully considered, such as efficient and reliable network architectures that should provide an efficient IoV deployment. Floating emergency messages to all vehicles on the road is the most difficult challenge in IoV due to high traffic intensity and dynamic channel conditions. The dissemination of emergency messages via Message Query Telemetry and Transport (MQTT) under IoV is discussed in this paper. Gateways deployed in the network aggregate acknowledgments received from various vehicles, and the Round Trip Time (RTT) between the vehicle and the broker is calculated to optimize emergency message dissemination. The simulation results show that MQTT can send messages over vehicles with a low RTT and reasonable throughput.
