Abstract : Generally, load management plays an important role while balancing power needs. Nowadays power generation has gone up matching to the levels of the demand to be met. However there arise cases where there is a shortage of power which means the demand is greater than supply. This is when load management plays a crucial role. Depending on the available supply, certain loads are shed in order to prevent unnecessary accidents. In the absence of load shedding, an entire locale receiving power will face a voltage and frequency drop leading to a decrease in the productivity of appliances and may cause permanent damage. Microgrids run on renewable sources of energy and generally are backed up with a generator. They help in reducing the carbon emissions caused by the fossil fuels making them a cleaner source of energy. Microgrids help in managing the power distribution between the DG (Distributed generator) and main grid in case of a deficit of supply needed. DGs supply power to the grid if the grid falls short of power and vice versa. In this paper a fuzzy logic controller is used to maintain the power balance between input power and output power supply which ensures that the frequency and voltage of power supplied are maintained constant.
