The students from Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Amrita School of Engineening, Coimbatore Campus, attended the “Care to Care” activity under Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amrita Learning to Integrate Values and Excellence (ALIVE) initiative, which was held on October 21st, 2017. Forty students from the department went to Udavum Karangal old age home, Kinathukadavu; Udavum Karangal children’s home, Maruthamalai and Eara Nenjam old age home, RS Puram at Coimbatore.
The ALIVE team, at Udavum Karangal, distributed sweets and provided toiletries. At Eara Nenjam and Udavum Karangal children’s home, lunch was provided to the inmates and the premises were also cleaned. More than Rs. 10,000/- were collected by faculty members, students and SAHAYA club (the club focusing on social outreach programs) for these community outreach activities. The non-teaching staff members who accompanied the students included Ms. Sowmya; Ms. Umayal VR; Ms. Visalakshi; Mr. Mohandas; Mr. Thirujnanam and the faculty members included Dr. Thilagavathy P. Assistant Professor Department of Sciences, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore; Ms. Sivakami V., Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore; Dr. Venkata Ravi Kumar Darbha, Assistant Professor, Department of Sciences, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore; and Priyatharishini M., Asst. Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore.
