The Department of Management, Amrita School of Business, Bengaluru, visited the Angels Orphanage, Shivaji Nagar, Bangalore, as a part of the “Joy of Giving Event”, organised by the department, on 9th October, 2017. The visit team comprised of 25 MBA students along with a hostel warden. There were 50 children, from the age of 3 to 15, 5 care takers and one supervisor. The day began with prayers, and then the children began interacting with the students. The children were from different parts of South India and spoke in 3 different languages. They played with the students, and shared their dreams to become an engineer, doctor, and air hostess.
The students distributed books and pens after the interaction, gave them sweets, chocolates and clicked a group picture with the children. The students, themselves, served the food that they had brought with them.
It was a learning experience for the students of Amrita. “We learned a lot from this visit, which made us realize that we are blessed with many things in life, to which we are ever grateful. We all had a great time and we wish to have more of such visits. This visit was successful with blessings of Amma. Amma is a great example of love, which we also shared with the children at the orphanage. It was an overwhelming experience which we cannot forget. There are many children who are orphans and we cannot reach out to everyone, but we can show love and compassion to people around us. So, start helping each other and think before wasting food and water, that there are many unlucky people among us, who are short of these basic necessities of life,” shared one of the students, Sri Lahari M, 1st Year MBA-MS, Department of Management, Bengaluru.
