Abstract : The importance of any steganographic approach is based on its capacity and security in data transmission. This article proposes an image steganographic method, called three group of bits substitution (3GBS) which hides 3 bits of secret data in a pixel. Each pixel of an image can hide 3 bits of secret data. The Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and hiding capacity are two important parameters to evaluate the strength of any steganographic method. This article compares the PSNR and hiding capacity of the proposed 3GBS method with the existing GBS methods. The experimental results of the proposed method gives a conclusive evidence that the hiding capacity increased significantly with an acceptable visual fidelity of the produced-image.
