Dr. Sreekala C.O., Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Amritapuri, was selected as a research fellow by the Science Academies’ Summer Research Fellowship Programme for Students and Teachers (SRFP) 2017. It is a prestigious summer internship programme in India which is a joint venture of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, and The National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad.
Dr. Sreekala was selected out of twenty fellows all over India from the Physics discipline. She successfully carried out the two month (May 19-July 15, 2017) research programme in India’s number one CSIR Laboratory, the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi, under the guidance of Dr.Vinay Gupta, senior scientist, Organic Solar Cell Division. During this two month research period, she could fabricate the perovskite solar cell of structure FTO/TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3/P3HT/Ag.
“I mastered the fabrication of the perovskite solar cell device inside the glove box. Dr.Vinay Gupta’s research team is one of the most famous organic solar cell research groups in India. Dr. Alan Jay Heeger, an American physicist, academic and Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry, is also one of the collaborators of this group. This research group is showing interest in collaborating with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in the field of solar cells,” said Dr. Sreekala.
