The Department of Electronics Communication and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore Campus, organized a national workshop on the ‘Image Processing for Biomedical Applications’ at the institution campus from December 16-17, 2016. Over 50 participants including academicians, research scholars and post graduate students attended the event. 

The main focus of the workshop was to emphasize the need for a CAD system and various image processing techniques for biomedical applications. It provided a forum for interaction between all those involved in the multi-disciplinary fields of biomedical image processing.

Eminent speakers from academic institutions and medical professionals shared their expertise in the relevant areas and presented their perspectives. They discussed how involvement of medical professionals can project how academic research can be oriented towards the needs of society. The workshop was organized by the thrust area group on Biomedical Systems and Instrumentation of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.
