Abstract : In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), the nodes have limited battery power. It is a challenging task to increase the network lifetime where different nodes possess different energy labels. To better utilize this limited energy, we propose an energy efficient cluster head selection algorithm named as Energy aware Cluster Head Selection (ECHS) based on residual energy of nodes. We have also compared the proposed algorithm with the existing protocols. The simulation results show increase in performance of ECHS as compared to the existing approaches.
