Abhinand Nandakumar and Srijan Agarwal, B. Tech. sophomore Computer Science and Engineering students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amritapuri Campus, were invited and given travel scholarships to give a talks at FUDCon (Fedora Users and Developers Conference) APAC, Phnom Penh, Cambodia from November 4-6, 2016.
FUDCon (Fedora Users and Developers Conference) is an important event in the world of free software organized by the Fedora community. FUDCon Phnom Penh was conducted at Norton University, Phnom Penh, along Barcamp ASEAN. Srijan and Abhinand were the only undergraduate students invited to give talks at the event.
Abhinand’s presentation was titled, “How to Contribute to MediaWiki and Basics of Git version Control System,” representing Wikimedia Foundation. Srijan, a Core Developer at WikiToLearn spoke on: “Bringing Academia to the Internet Era – a Revolution in Knowledge Sharing!” Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is the only Asian University to sign a MoU with WikiToLearn.
Abhinand and Srijan are active members of the Free and Open Source Software Club FOSS @ Amrita, Amritapuri. Both were selected for Google Summer of Code in April 2016, when they were freshmen, creating a new record for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
