Abstract : Similarity-based reasoning is one of thewell-established inference mechanismswhich is widespread in the literature. Aninference mechanism is required to havesome properties to be an acceptable in-ference mechanism that can be used in anapplication. Interpolativity and continuityare two of the major controlling propertiesof an inference mechanism. In this work,we represent the SBR inference mechanismas a function between two spaces of fuzzysets following which we ascertain the con-ditions on different operations involved in asimilarity-based reasoning inference mech-anism that satisfies the above-mentionedproperties.
