The BAJA SAE Series® is an event for the undergraduate engineering students, organized globally by the Society of Automotive Engineers, USA.
In SAE Virtual Baja, teams representing different colleges from across India took part to present their All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) design virtually. In the SAE Virtual Baja, teams has to ensure that a fictitious firm manufactures their design and that it should meet the expectations of SAE, i.e., design and manufacture of a car that is reliable, safe, ergonomic, maintainable, and if manufactured, achieves economies of scale.
The BAJA SAE tasks the students to design, fabricate and validate a single seater four – wheeled off road vehicle to take part in series of events spread over a course of 3 days that test the vehicle for the sound engineering practices that have gone into it, the agility of the vehicle in terms of gradability, speed, acceleration and manoeuvrability characteristics and finally, its ability to endure the back breaking durability test.
Dr. Rakesh S. G., Associate Dean & Head of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru expressed his happiness and congratulated SAEINDIA Collegiate Club members for their achievement.
