Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham recently coordinated the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 program between 10 universities in Europe and 10 universities in India with the final meeting conducted at the University of Porto, Portugal from May 24th-25th, 2016. One hundred and twenty-six students from all across India were sent to the partner institutions in Europe for fully funded programs including internships, semester abroad programs, dual masters programs, and PhD programs. The principal coordinator from the European side was done by Politecnico di Torino in Italy. It was the occasion for the partner universities to gather and discuss the project outcomes and the opportunities for the future.
During the meeting, 3 exchange students, including Amrita PhD student Sougata Ray, indicated how this program was useful to help them with their PhD studies.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was represented by Prof. Shyam Diwakar who also documented the Indian side of discussions for the post-meeting brief.
India4EU II is an Erasmus Mundus Action 2 project funded by the European Commission and organized by a partnership of some the most prestigious universities in Europe and India. The project builds on the success of India4EU. India4EU II provides scholarships to nationals of India to spend a mobility period in Europe in a wide variety of academic fields at different levels of study (Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctorate, Post-Doctorate, and Staff). The scholarships cover subsistence allowances, travel costs, tuition/registration fees and insurance costs.
