The Amrita Blood Collectors and Donors (ABCD) Forum at the Health Sciences Campus organized a skit in connection with the World Blood Donor Day at the hospital. The theme of the 2016 World Blood Donor Day, 14 June, was “Blood connects us all”. It focused on thanking blood donors.
Additionally, Mr. Krishna Kumar from Amrita Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine was felicitated by the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS), for voluntary blood donations done at its Blood Bank. A Certificate of Appreciation and Reward Memento were presented to Mr. Kumar on World Blood Donor Day in recognition of his commitment which has saved many lives. Mr. Krishnakumar has donated blood 22 times at AIMS, making it the highest number of donations done by an individual at the hospital. So far, Mr. Kumar has donated blood 86 times in all. Mr. Krishnakumar’s sacrifice represents one of the best of values that Chancellor Amma teaches – service to suffering people. Mr. Kumar is the Senior Finance Assistant at the Office of Grants and Contract Administration (OGCA) at the Health Sciences Campus, Kochi.
