Navaratri was extensively celebrated at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus from 14 to 23 October, 2015.
Navaratri is not only significant for spiritual aspirants. It has a message for those who lead a worldly life as well. We can invoke Durga’s help to surmount obstacles in our lives, pray to Lakshmi to bestow peace and prosperity, and contemplate upon Saraswati in order to gain knowledge. These three ingredients are necessary for a full and complete worldly life. In reality, when we pray with devotion and proper attitude, we are invoking Shakti, the creative life of Feminine Divinity that is within each one of us. Feminine Divinity has numerous manifestations of Goddesses, including Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. Therefore, during this festive period, our main building lobby temple was beautifully decorated with Bhommakkulu and Kali idol, creating an auspicious ambience charged with pure .
The whole celebration was started with Ganapathihoma on the morning of 14 October. Then each department organized puja, Lalitha Sahasranama Archana chanting, bhajans, etc., on each day during this ten-day festival.
At the evening of 19 October, Vilakku Puja was conducted by using 108 lamps inside the lobby temple and along the corridors. Nearly 400 students, professors and staff participated with full devotion. Peace prevailed on the entire campus.
