The Disaster Management Medical Team from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi departed for Rajasthan and Gujarat to extend all necessary medical aid to the needy patients in the flood affected areas. Ernakulam District Collector M. G. Rajamanickam flagged off the 25-member medical team on August 05, 2015.
“Amma and Mata Amritanandamayi Math are always in the forefront to wipe the tears of the poor people who are badly affected by the natural disaster and this is truly an inspiring model to all”, said the District Collector. Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director; Br.Dr.Jaggu; Dr.Rajesh Pai, Deputy Medical Superintendent; Sri. P. K. Sudhakaran and Dr. K. V. Beena were also present on the occasion.
The centrally air conditioned Amrita Mobile Telemedicine Unit (AMTU) which accompanies the medical team is equipped with satellite-based video conferencing facility and the unit comprises of colour ultra sonography, X-ray radiography, ventilator, minor operation theatre, delivery room facility, electro cardiography, light microscopy, digital photography, and bio chemical testing with a semi auto analyzer to analyze Hepatitis B, and Rat fever or leptospirosis.
