Mr. A. Aghilan, Mr. K. Sankar and Mr. S. Nithish, a student team of II Year Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering (ASE), Amrita Vishwa Viydapeetham, Chennai campus, secured third prize in the Project presentation on “RF Design for 5G/6G, IIOT, IoMT and Space Applications” conducted by IEEE AP-S in association with SASTRA University. The event was held on June 4, 2022, at the SASTRA university campus. Dr. T. Shanmuganatham (Chairman, IEEE AP-S (Madras Section)) was the Chief Guest of the event. The first two prizes were won by Ph.D. scholars from other institutions.
RF Design for 5G/6G, IIOT, IoMT and Space Applications offered a forum for UG, PG students and research scholars to discuss the various antenna and sensor designs. Participants in the contest should present engineering designs, ideas, and prototypes on the following topics: Antenna for Chipless RFID, RF design for WBAN, Metamaterial based antennas, Microwave imaging design, EMC/EMI for 5G, UWB and multispectral technologies, Beamforming and smart antennas for 5G/6G.
Based on the above topics, a total of 26 teams (3 students per team) were shortlisted for the competition nationally. The team from ASE, Chennai campus proposed an antenna design titled “Low profile metamaterial integrated antenna for nanosatellite applications”. The team was mentored by Dr. B. Sakthi Abirami and Dr. P. Devi Sowjanya (Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai campus).
